CALIFORNIA WORKSHOP RECAP

THE WORKSHOP

I just recently finished renovating my studio (blog post coming soon!), and was so excited to bring people into my newly updated space. The day started out on Saturday morning at my San Clemente studio. As soon as they walked in, attendees found a Hurley beach tote full of little surprises waiting for them!

Pictured below is the beach tote that every attendee got to go home with. Inside contained a bamboo utensils set (you can get a similar one sold here), and a limited edition Just Bree hat & notebook!

My assistant Ashley created a lunch menu for my favorite place, Active Culture, and everyone was asked to fill out prior to starting. I hadn’t been in the “classroom” since April so it was really fun getting into teacher mode and share my passion.

Before we knew it, it was time to start the workshop. I was so excited to welcome my attendees to the workshop and get started on digging into color theory and prep! After everyone was settled with that, we began painting our first layer (nervous was the general mood I was getting from most haha) and then it was time for lunch!

We had set up a picnic down by Linda Lane with a view of the beach. After sharing a little bit more about ourselves, we had a 2 hour break where attendees could enjoy the beach, or explore San Clemente!

Something that I knew I wanted to do throughout the day was create a learning experience that would include some time to be reflective and work alone. It can feel like a long day, so its nice for some time to mentally refuel. We met back together at the art studio at 3pm, and began with a Q&A.

Once the Q&A was over, we began painting our second layer. This is really where their visions came to life! I was able to help where students needed, but also see how much they learned from the first session! A quick 45 minutes later, everyone had completed their pieces.

Before everyone went their way, we made sure to take this quick group picture of everyone. When I look at this group I seriously feel so lucky to have met so many amazing women who have such big hearts and passion for creating.

And there you have it, friends. I hope you enjoyed this glimpse into the workshop!
